Wednesday 16 May - Hilary Visits

Hilary's train from Newport arrived on time

It was good to see Hilary again although sad that she was without her guide dog Yalena. The weather was not very bright but it didn't rain. We had a good walk through the town including a  stop for coffee at the cafe at the Bear Steps.  Lunch was at the Armoury to which we walked via St. Chads and the Quarry Gardens.

After lunch we had coffee on the balcony of the Theatre Severn overlooking the river and then it was time to head back to the station. The platform staff were very good, they knew in advance that Hilary would be travelling, there was a reserved seat for her and she was escorted right to her seat.

We then met Charles Spencer who took us back to his place for supper with Lizzie Anne, Roan and Ila. It was a great evening.
